Favia Winemaker 3-pack
2011 Favia CERRO SUR Red Wine Napa Valley
It was a challenging vintage. A cool summer gave way to heavy fog during harvest, and I recall even our most experienced collaborators were stunned. This is the vintage my apprenticeship transitioned into leadership, and we made confident, bold moves in the cellar. Reflecting upon the wine in the glass a decade later whips up a flurry of memories. In the execution of this harvest, art and science were in lockstep, and I learned to trust my gut, full stop.
Deep garnet hue with a lilting soft entry, notes of herbes de Provence, black plum, cigar box, Chinese five spice and wet slate rounding out with delicate, interwoven tannins and an incredibly youthful gait.
2013 Favia Cabernet Sauvignon Coombsville Napa Valley
When harvest kicked off in 2013, we knew we were in the presence of greatness as the fruit graced the cellar. The employ of our newly installed, commissioned concrete tanks with our best fruit source from Coombsville made for harmony in motion. A robust harvest, not wavered by drought conditions, with idyllic chemistry… watching this evolve will carry me through a lifetime.
Deep violet hue, with abundant black and red fruit, black cherries, currants and cranberries laced with herbal notes of marjoram and thyme walking hand in hand with subtle baking spice, encased in mouth-coating tannins with a bright, lingering finish and balanced acidity.
2015 Favia LA MAGDALENA Red Wine Napa Valley
In the 2015 harvest, a growing season during a long drought had given way to tiny berries and as such, it encouraged us to alter our techniques. The resulting wines are hauntingly intense, and are just coming into their own.
Aromatic notes of perfumed violets and crème de cassis give away to a sweet impression and savory finish; ample fruit buttressed with seamlessly integrated oak illustrated by firm tannins, exceedingly expressive— cocoa, black cherry and bramble fruits, graphite, espresso.
