Favia + YPO Tasting

First in the trio is our 2018 CARBONE Chardonnay, envisioning a style that takes us back in time, and leaning us toward our bright future. For over three decades, these vines have been producing energetic, fresh, vibrant fruit, beside our historic winery. The resulting wine is equally compelling. Barrel fermented, aged sur-lie, but without malo-lactic fermentation, it proudly showcases the potential of white wine in this quiet corner of the Valley.
Second is the 2016 CERRO SUR, a blend of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon from Rancho Chimiles. The wine most reflective of our sense of place, from one of the most majestic sites to grow Cabernet Franc, our favorite variety. Planted nearly forty years ago, the property is rich with California history, and for a time was owned by Nathan Coombs, founder of the city of Napa, and the namesake of Coombsville. High in the mountains above the appellation, it has been the source of this Favia wine for more than sixteen vintages. This wine, more than any other, reminds us of home.
Third in the line-up is our 2016 offering of Favia LA MAGDALENA Red Wine Napa Valley. Sourced from the coveted Summit Block at Oakville Ranch high in the eastern red hills of Oakville, this unique wine hails from one of the finest areas in the world for growing Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. We have been making wine from these vines for a decade, and the results are always spectacular. Co-fermented in this vintage, these two varieties show the absolute best of what Oakville has to offer. After 22 months in barrel and one year in bottle, this blend is tightly knit together, but with a softness and polish that makes it immediately accessible.
